SENS4ICE News
GosNIIAS has completed its works on
contribution in SENS4ICE international project in the framework Horizon
2020 EU - Research and Innovation program.
The main goal of SENS4ICE project is to
increase aircraft safety due to provision of reliable detection of icing
conditions.
The project solves the problem of
development a special approach to the joint use of various methods of
icing conditions detection. In the developed hybrid system there will be
combined direct detection of atmospheric conditions, forming aircraft
icing, with indirect methods of detection via monitoring of aircraft
characteristics alteration.
In collaboration with CIRA and ATR
GosNIIAS was solving the problem of remote (early) detection of icing
conditions using nowcasting methods. GosNIIAS developed a tool for icing
detection, including App. O conditions, based on airborne weather radar
using polarimetric technology and specific weather classification
algorithm built on fuzzy logics.
Complete information about the project’s
progress and recent results are available from the
4th newsletter.
